The overall price of alcohol in the province is going up as of May 1.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation says that they allow their suppliers to provide a re-quote of their products annually, and they recently completed that process for alcohol and cannabis.
While price changes will vary by product and category the average overall increase will be 3.9 per cent.
They say the change reflects significant impacts on suppliers, who have seen increases in various areas; all of which have contributed to Canada’s most recent inflation rate.
Meanwhile, the price of Cannabis products has dropped by an average of six per cent.
The NLC says this is due to the fact that the market is still new, an oversupply of product, and all the licensed producers are located in Canada.
They say reduced prices will help in disrupting the illicit market.
