Newfoundland and Labrador cleaned up at the ECMAs last week, bringing home a total of 11 awards, and the Executive Director of MusicNL couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
Among the winners are Rube and Rake for Songwriter of the Year, Quote the Raven for Contemporary/Roots recording of the year, and VOCM’s own Greg Smith for Media Person of the Year.
Rhonda Tulk-Lane describes it as a “whirlwind of a week.”
She says this province came in second, behind Nova Scotia, for the most awards. She points out how this province in smaller than Nova Scotia and how it is an accomplishment not just to bring home so many awards, but some of the most prestigious awards at that.
Tulk-Lane says it is very important for the music industry to have such support. She says it helps get artists to the next level and grow the industry.
