The federal government is providing $430,000 for a project designed to encourage healthier eating in eight communities across the province.
St. John’s East MP Joanne Thompson made the announcement last week.
The project “Great Things in Store: Retail Partnerships for Better Food Access” will be led by Food First NL. That group will engage with retailers and will use innovative and integrated approaches to promote healthy living and address the common risk factors for chronic disease.
MP Thompson says the best people to know their needs are the ones who live in the community.
