This is a week set aside to promote diversity, inclusion, and accessibility across the country and while progress has been made in this regard, the Consumer Group for Persons with Disabilities believes we have a way to go yet.
People are asked to wear red on Wednesday to show support for people living with disabilities.
Consumer Group executive director Nancy Reid says the occasion gives us the opportunity to think about what we’re doing in this province. They’re doing a survey, available to people who identify as a person with a disability but also is available to the general public.
She says universal design is key.
That puts everybody regardless of size, age or ability on an equal footing as it expands accessibility and allows everyone to turn that doorknob
