Labrador City has been named the most active community in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The town participated in the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge which challenged residents from across Canada to track their minutes of activity for an entire month.

Labrador City spent the month of June logging minutes from activities such as community walks and household chores for a total of 2.4 million active minutes.

The town claimed a $15,000 prize for being crowned the Most Active Community in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The money will be used to support healthy living initiatives in the town.
