The provincial government is warning of a scam making the rounds involving contact information for income support.

According to the Department of Children, Seniors, and Social Development, a document containing incorrect income support phone numbers and email addresses is circulating publicly.

The correct toll-free phone number to call is 1-877-729-7888, and the correct email is incomesupport@gov.nl.ca.

Email addresses and phone numbers other than those are not accurate and should not be contacted.

Anyone who received a suspicious communication is asked to contact the Anti-Fraud Centre of Canada or call 1-888-495-8501.
