The holder of a gem of a lottery ticket has come forward.
Irene Stack of Petty Harbour usually plays Set for Life or Lotto Max in the lotto, but following a recent gas fill-up, she decided to buy a Lotto 6/49 ticket since it was the game’s scheduled draw that night.
Her last-minute purchase ended up being worth $1 million as her ticket was the Guaranteed Prize Draw winner for the August 13 draw.
Stack and her husband plan to use the winnings to pay off their mortgage, finish renovations on the home, purchase a new truck and take their first solo vacation together.
Their ticket was purchased at the Orangestore in Paradise, meaning the retailer receives one per cent—$10,000—seller’s share.
