Major road work in the Southlands area of St. John’s will continue through the fall, according to the city.
Improvements on Southlands Boulevard have been ongoing throughout the summer as part of annual road maintenance.
The improvements are being done in two phases on Southlands Boulevard from Ruby Line to the on-ramp at Pitts Memorial Drive, which should be finished by the end of this month, and from that on-ramp to the city limits on Pitts, which should be done by the end of October.
Hours of work are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with lane reductions in place and slowdowns anticipated for the next couple of months.
With the return of school this week, contractor Pyramid Construction says they will do their best to reduce congestion for traffic and school buses during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
