A security guard at a grocery store in St. John’s was assaulted after confronting a customer. The incident happened at about 8:30 p.m. Monday night.
RNC say a man was attempting to steal merchandise when the loss prevention officer approached him. After a search of the area, police arrested a 60-year-old man. He has been charged with robbery with violence and breaching release conditions.
Meanwhile, two men are in custody after a violent robbery in the downtown. That incident unfolded just after 9 p.m.
A man was allegedly being assaulted by two others who had also stolen his phone. They were trying to escape law enforcement but were apprehended.
RNC have charged a 32-year-old with a multitude of offences including robbery with violence and breaching court orders. A 25-year-old faces similar charges.
