Licensed cannabis sales in the province have seen an increase, and a further increase is expected with the recent approval of vaporizers.
Cannabis sales in the second quarter generated $17.8 million in revenue, with 20 percent of sales coming from the purchase of vapes.
The provincial government, which approved cannabis vape products in September, expects the approval to minimize the illegal cannabis market as a majority of illegal sales were from vaporizers.
The cannabis industry is looking to expand throughout the province with retail locations proposed for Clarenville, St. Anthony, Pasadena, Rocky Harbour, Springdale and Twillingate.
