An accomplished author in Newfoundland and Labrador has passed away.
Helen Fogwill Porter taught creative writing and was a member of many notable organizations including the Writers’ Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Newfoundland Writers’ Guild and the Writers’ Union of Canada.
Fogwill Porter was also a social activist and ran for the NDP four times—three in Mount Pearl and once in Harbour Grace.
NDP Leader Jim Dinn says she made a tremendous contribution to the party, and that they draw strength and hope from her wonderful legacy.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. Helen Fogwill Porter was 92.
