One of the largest strikes in Canadian history is a few steps closer to materializing.
About 155,000 federal workers have voted overwhelmingly in favour of walking off the job in efforts to win a contract more to their expectations and demands.
They deliver many services which people depend on such as firefighting, employment insurance, Coast Guard, immigration and taxation and refunds.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada is asking for decent wages so that everyone can make ends meet.
PSAC President Chris Aylward says they do not take strike action lightly but they are prepared to fight to make change. The union is calling on Ottawa to get back to the bargaining table.
