SIRT-NL has determined that no charges be laid in connection with a complaint received from a lawyer alleging that two RCMP officers had assaulted his client in January of 2020.
The lawyer further alleged that the incident, involved an element of racial discrimination by the officers involved.
The SIRT investigation was launched in March of 2022 and wrapped up last month, involving statements from the affected person, two civilian witnesses, two witness officers, as well as examination of a variety of evidence including medical records and photographs.
SIRT-NL determined there were no reasonable grounds to lay charges in the matter.
