The Chief of the RNC says there is systemic racism within society, and by extension it is present within the RNC.

First Voice and the RNC yesterday announced that they have reached an agreement to form an Indigenous Advisory Committee.

Chief Pat Roche acknowledges previous comments where he said he doesn’t believe there is systemic racism within the police force. When asked what changed his mind, Roche boils it down to one word—education.

He says a “healthy” meeting was held with First Voice following his initial comments to address their concerns and how to move forward.

Roche says some meetings became heated as they tried to understand each other’s point of view. He says the RNC is on the right path in correcting issues with systemic racism through their relationship with First Voice.
