The Downtown Safety Coalition, a group formed to address an increased incidence of violence in the capital city’s downtown area, will provide an update on measures taken to date to address the issue.
Concerns were raised last year by a group of musicians who no longer felt safe leaving gigs late at night.
That led to the formation of the coalition and requests from the RNC to report criminal or violent activity when it’s happening so that greater resources can be applied to problem areas.
Don-E Coady with the George Street Association says they will make a “long-awaited” announcement tomorrow for people who live, work and visit the downtown.
