Some of the people displaced by fire at a 4-storey apartment building on Brazil Street in St. John’s are being allowed to return home.
The fire, which broke out just before 10:00 last night, was contained to the 4th floor and quickly extinguished by the St. John’s Regional Fire Department.
Eight people were provided with emergency lodging by the Canadian Red Cross while another nine stayed with relatives and friends. One person was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Residents in the unaffected areas of Harbourview Apartments were allowed to return once the fire was out and the structure ventilated.
