If you thought the sticky yellow coating of pollen is heavier this summer than last, you’re right.
Last year was an excellent growing season with the early summer and nice weather, and that has carried over to this year. The trees responded accordingly last year by setting lots of flowers for this year. We have already seen the evidence in certain types of trees.
The pollen is covering cars, BBQs and even seemingly falling like rain. And it’s causing major problems for allergy sufferers.
Dr. Janice Audeau, president of the province’s Pharmacy Association, says it’s clear that people with allergies are finding this year a difficult one.
Some people just get a runny nose, sneeze, have itchy and water eyes but others have more serious symptoms so it can range from having a few sneezes here and there to being “completely debilitating.”
