People across the province are gearing up for the annual Terry Fox Runs taking place this Sunday.
Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope in St. John’s in April of 1980, 43 years ago.
Director of Community Development with the Terry Fox Foundation, Kirk Leach, says there are some 27 runs taking place province-wide this weekend, with 10 of those happening in Labrador.
Each year has a theme, and this year Leach explains, they are asking people to write to Terry.
He says when the man was forced to stop his run he received thousands of letters that began with ‘Dear Terry,’ so they have decided to make that this year’s theme. He says when people sign up online they can write their own letter.
