A St. John’s man is facing serious charges after a hit and run in the capital early this morning.
Police responded to reports of the accident in the centre of the city just after 2 a.m. They arrived to discover one of the two vehicles involved had left the scene.
They say, however, they were able to catch up with that other driver, who was believed to be under the influence.
The 19-year-old man was taken to RNC headquarters where police say he failed the breathalyser and was subsequently charged with impaired driving, with other charges pending.
The young man’s vehicle was seized and he was released to appear in court at a later date.
And police were called to a city hotel around 10 o’clock Friday night in response to reports of a disturbance.
They arrived to find a 35-year-old man who they say was in violation of conditions to stay from a woman who was also at the hotel.
The suspect was arrested and held in custody pending a court date this morning.
