Both the Newfoundland Growlers and the Rogues came out on the losing end of their games last night.
The Growlers (24-22-7-2) were shut out 4-0 on home ice by the visiting Kalamazoo Wings (28-20-3-0), that team’s first visit to Mary Brown’s Centre.
The Growlers managed only 17 shots on goal in their first game back home after a relatively successful road trip.
The rematch goes tonight at 7 p.m., which is also Kids Eat Smart Night in aid of the provincial organization.
The foundation has partnered with Hebron and the hockey team to raise money for the school breakfast program.
Five dollars from every ticket sold for tonight’s game will go toward the Campaign for Breakfast.
Game three of the weekend series goes 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The Rogues, meanwhile, were in London, Ont., where they dropped a 118-94 decision to the Lightning.
It was the first matchup of the year between the top two teams in the Basketball Super League as the previously planned series here was cancelled due to weather.
Armani Chaney and Marquis Collins both finished above the 20-point marker with 29 points and 21 points respectively for the travelling Rogues.
They’re right back on the hardcourt tonight for a game against the Windsor Express.
Game time is 8:30 Newfoundland time.
