The Progressive Conservative Party is labelling the government’s closing of the provincial legislature as being disrespectful.
On Wednesday evening, to the shock of the opposition members, government closed down the legislature for two sitting days until budget day next Wednesday.
PC Leader Tony Wakeham says there are at least 13 bills that have been left on the table. Opposition House Leader Barry Petten says one of those is the important Crown Lands Act.
What they debated instead, according to Petten, was a lot of routine material.
Petten contends that is was “some of the lamest legislation,” and debate consisted of things such as changing the wording of bills.
