A new Narrative Research survey shows that a growing minority of residents across Canada are renting rather than owning their own home.
The survey shows the number of Canadians currently renting has jumped by 12 points over the last two years.
That’s despite the fact that half of Canadians who responded currently own their home, a drop from 64 per cent in July of 2022.
The number of Canadians who own their home without a mortgage dropped to just two-in-ten, while the number of homeowners with a mortgage sits at 32 per cent.
Of those who have a mortgage, 71 per cent are on a fixed rate, while 23 per cent are on a variable rate.
