The PC MHA for Topsail-Paradise wants the education minister to “check her numbers” when it comes to the number of childcare spaces that have been added to the system over the past year.
Paul Dinn says Minister Krista Lynn Howell has been praising the success of introducing $10 a day childcare, despite what he calls lagging progress in creating new daycare spaces.
The province’s target was set at creating 5,895 new spaces, but Dinn says they’ve only added a little over 1,300 to date.
He accuses government of not taking meaningful actions to address the number of parents unable to find appropriate childcare.
