Get your caftan and permed red wigs ready, Twillingate is hosting it’s second annual Mrs. Roper Pub Crawl this summer, and the event is so popular you have to register ahead of time to get tickets.
Julie Canuel says it all started with a similar event down in the States, and as a life-long Three’s Company fan, she thought it would go over well in her adopted home of Twillingate.
“It was just a bunch of people getting together,” she says, and while a number of activities are possible, they settled on a pub crawl.
Participants are encouraged to dress like Mrs. Roper from Three’s Company, or even Stanley and parade through the streets from pub to pub. She jokes that they have people who are always on the look out for caftans and wigs.
She says people post to their Facebook group whenever they see an item they think others might be interested in. “I think Rossy in Lewisporte basically is sold out of caftans right now,” Canuel laughs.
She says last year’s event was such a hit they had to cap registration this year at 100. Hopeful Helens can check the group’s Facebook page on March 24 to see when registration will open for tickets to the event.
