SIRT-NL has laid perjury and obstruction charges against an RCMP officer in St. John’s.
Constable Paul Durdle, who has since resigned from the force but who was an active officer at the time of the alleged offence, is charged with one count each of perjury and obstructing justice.
The charges stem from Durdle’s testimony at the trial of another officer in Supreme Court.
SIRT-NL Director Mike King says the civilian-led oversight agency launched its investigation after being notified by the RCMP.
Durdle is scheduled to appear in court on May 14.
