Gander is the place to be according to Stingray’s Randy Connors who compares the excitement and activity leading up to today’s eclipse to Come From Away.
Connors says hotel rooms have been booked in advance and a number of activities have been held leading up to the big event.
The town, Memorial University and the Johnson GEO Centre have been hosted events all weekend.
In the meantime, people have been gathering for viewing parties throughout the town.
“Right now there are hundreds of people showing up at the College of the North Atlantic parking lot” Conners said around 4:00 p.m. “It’s actually a viewing party with some displays set up and some equipment.”
In the meantime, less formal gatherings have also being taking place throughout Gander, central Newfoundland and Terra Nova National Park where people are getting together to watch the natural phenomenon.
