Three suspects made first appearances in provincial court this morning in connection with what police say was the targeted killing of a man near St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital yesterday.
The trio—two men and a woman—were shuffled into the courtroom this morning with numerous sheriff’s officers escorting them to and from the holding cells at Atlantic Place.
Forty-one-year-old Brad Morrell, 50-year-old Jason Wells, and 36-year-old Veronica Whalen each face a single count of second-degree murder in the death of 31-year-old Dylan Jordan.
All three suspects live in the immediate area of yesterday’s incident on Golf Avenue, with Wells already on the docket for property crimes and a breach of a court order.
Police say the initial call was in response to an incident involving weapons, but they also note there was a “physical altercation” with the victim subsequently found dead in the street.
Officers quickly surrounded a home, demanding those inside to come out, which they did, and were arrested without incident.
Four people were initially taken into custody, but a second woman has since been released without charge.
The victim, Dylan Jordan, had pending court dates for break and entries and breaches of court conditions set for August 20.
Ironically, that’s the same day that his accused killers are next due in court.
