The provincial government says the old hotel near the airport now has 43 residents, and the facility is “on track” to welcome more residents between now and the end of October.
Housing Minister John Abbott says setting up the programming, supports and staff required on-site is taking place in a methodical and “orderly” way so as not to overwhelm the system.
Abbott says some people have already moved back into the community.
The facility is being run by End Homelessness St. John’s, and “we think we’re right on track and we’re very happy with that,” says Abbott.
