The Avalon Chapter of the Council of Canadians is asking the provincial government to commit to signing on to the national pharmacare program.
The Canada Paramacare Act is in the final stages of being passed and once it achieves Royal Assent, the province will have to negotiate with Ottawa for funding so that anyone with an MCP card can receive prescription contraceptives and diabetes medications and devices without having to pay out of pocket.
The open letter was delivered to the Premier and Health Minister to mark the World Contraception Day of Action which is this Thursday.
