The RNC have dismantled what they’re calling a drug lab in a camping trailer on the outskirts of St. John’s.
Two men and two women were arrested on Monday, followed by the seizure of guns and two vehicles in connection with the investigation, which began in February.
Officers believe the trailer was being operated as a drug manufacturing site, given the presence of respirator masks, drugs at various stages of manufacturing, unidentified substances in dishes and containers, packaging supplies, gas storage tanks, colour dyes and a vacuum sealer.
Sources tell VOCM News that the trailer was located in the area of Cochrane Pond, just west of St. John’s.
Other warrants were executed, resulting in the seizure of a .22-calibre handgun, a loaded .22-calibre semi-automatic rifle, and two replica handguns.
The RNC also seized fentanyl, cocaine, crystal meth, prescription drugs, illicit pills, drug-making equipment, a money counter, several cell phones and a large, undisclosed quantity of cash.
RNC Const. James Cadigan says the investigation also turned up the “unique” and potentially lethal drug xyalzine.
“It’s actually a horse tranquilizer, and that drug, in a very small dose, can be life-threatening when ingested,” he warned.
Charges are believed to be pending against the four suspects, who police have not yet named.
