Eastlink hopes to have services restored later this evening following a widespread interruption in service in Newfoundland due to damage to the network.
The company says “a third party” caused damage to its fibre resulting in a widespread outage. Crews are expected to begin repairs soon.
The outage is affecting internet and phone services in a number of areas including the capital city.
Update for NL customers: Although we’ll have a better sense of the extent of damage and restoration time once our crew completes its assessment, we hope to have affected video and internet services restored later this evening. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding.
