The company behind a proposed hydrogen production facility powered by wind energy in the Exploits Valley region says it is committed to the responsible development of the project.
This week, the environment minister requested that the proponent, the Exploits Valley Renewable Energy Corporation, prepare an environmental impact statement.
The CEO of Abraxis Power, J. Colter Eadie, says EVREC is fully committed to providing the government with detailed information, ensuring what he calls “the highest standards of integrity and transparency.”
The company was awarded access to more than 300 square km of Crown lands by the provincial government last year for use in the development of a 3-gigawatt wind development to power hydrogen and ammonia production facilities.
The company claims the project will boost the provincial GDP by $7.8 billion over its 34-year lifespan.
