Premier Andrew Furey is calling a gang attack on a major trauma centre in Haiti “evil.”

The premier knows of what he speaks; he’s spent years on the ground providing humanitarian and medical care in Haiti with Team Broken Earth.

Haiti, one of the western hemisphere’s most impoverished countries, has descended into chaos following a series of natural disasters and an unfolding political crisis.

This week, armed gangs in Haiti attacked one of the Caribbean nation’s key medical centres, setting it on fire and destroying millions of dollars of medical equipment and infrastructure.

The premier says he’s at a loss for words after gangs destroyed the hospital and an ambulance, both of which were funded by Team Broken Earth.
