Premier Andrew Furey is calling a recent first ministers meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney productive, and says he is “content” with what was brought forward.
Earlier today, Carney announced his plan to respond to the latest round of reciprocal tariffs from the United States.
Furey also applauded Carney for his efforts to change the dialogue with President Donald Trump.
He says Trump isn’t referring to Canada as the 51st state any more, nor is he referring to the Prime Minister as “governor.” Furey calls that a “symbolic but important move from where the president had started.”
As for what happens next, Furey hints that there will be some measures announced in next week’s budget that will be “flexible” in order to “meet the moment.”
