The rainbow flag was raised in the lobby of Confederation Building yesterday to mark Pride Month in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Ailsa Craig from Quadrangle NL says Pride Month has grown over the last decade with both community and government support.
“I’m still so grateful that the flag is raised here, that this is an event that I didn’t organize myself and that wasn’t pulled together from our dining room tables,” Craig said.
“So there is so much that’s changed in terms of the acknowledgement of the ways that we are vitally contributing to society around us.”
Confederation Building will be lit up with the colours of the rainbow later this month.
The pride flag will also be flown on Confederation Building next weekend.
