A Hopedale man charged with the first-degree murder of one man and attempted murder of another remains in jail and without a lawyer three weeks after the tragic incident in the Labrador community.
Twenty-seven-year-old Michael Tuglavina was arrested after one man was found dead in a home, and another was left with serious injuries nearby.
The accused has been in custody since the incident on May 16th — first at the RCMP detachment in Hopedale, and now at the Labrador Correctional Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Police have not said how the victims were attacked, or if there was a weapon involved but have confirmed that they all knew each other.
But with so many similar names in the community and on the docket, identities have to be confirmed with exact birth dates to avoid conflicts with other cases and lawyers.
Appearing in Wabush provincial court this morning by phone from St. John’s, Legal Aid’s Jason Edwards said the birth dates were redacted from the original disclosure and must be confirmed before a permanent lawyer can be assigned and bail hearing set.
The Crown’s Brandon Gillespie confirmed he’s waiting for RCMP Major Crimes to forward the information.
Tuglavina, meanwhile, remains in custody pending his next court date on June 17th, when the case will be called again along with other charges he was already facing, including breaches of court orders, resisting arrest, uttering threats, assault, and assault causing bodily harm.
