Air quality warnings are in effect for Labrador West as smoke from wildfires in Manitoba and Saskatchewan move into the region.
Environment Canada says the smoke will cause a period of “significantly reduced air quality”
The situation is expected to improve overnight.
Those most likely to be affected by wildfire smoke include those 65 or older, infants, young children and those who are pregnant.
It can also have a detrimental effect on people living with a chronic condition or illness.
People are being advised to limit their time outdoors, and where possible, reschedule or cancel outdoor sports, activities and events.
Symptoms of exposure include eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough.
