The capital city is ready to welcome the country to St. John’s with preparations for the Canada Summer Games now in their final stages.
Mayor Danny Breen says he can feel the anticipation and excitement building for the games, which take place in August.
Breen says all of the facilities that were either upgraded or built for the event are in “good shape,” and soon people will start seeing more banners and advertising.
The mayor says St. John’s is also prepared for the tourism aspect of being the host city.
He says they are keeping the impact of construction projects in mind, and they have increased cleaning efforts—particularly in the downtown. As well, Breen notes that all of the bars and restaurants are prepared.
