A house on Paradise Road was damaged by fire this afternoon, but all occupants got out safely.
The road was blocked off near Pleasantview Avenue as firefighters from St. John’s Regional fought the blaze.
The homeowner and some neighbours were dousing the flames with a garden hose as firefighters arrived, a move which helped to limit the damage according to Platoon Chief Ken Dinn.
He says those efforts helped to knock the fire down “quite a bit,” which made it easier for his crews to come in and finish the job.
Damage was limited to the attic.
RNC are investigating the cause.
