More summer music festivals appear to be falling by the wayside.
Organizers of the Feile Seamus Creagh Festival of traditional Irish and Newfoundland Music, typically held in Carbonear, St. John’s and Ferryland just after Labour Day, will not be going ahead this year.
In a post on social media, organizers cited challenges in securing funding and rising costs as reasons for the pause. They emphasized that the decision was a difficult one but necessary to ensure long-term sustainability.
While 2025 will be a year off, the festival committee says it is committed to bringing the festival back in 2026 by focusing on fundraising efforts in the interim.
Last week, organizers of the Food, Fibs & Fiddles Festival on the Northern Peninsula announced that it will not be going ahead this year.
And the annual Iron Skull Folk Festival in Belleoram has been cancelled this year due to the inability to book performers.
