The arena in Placentia will now be known as the Port of Argentia Wellness Centre thanks to a half a million dollar donation from the Port of Argentia.

Ellen Davis, who handles marketing with the port, says they’ve seen success in recent years in establishing new industry to the region and they wanted to give back to the community in a meaningful way.

She says when they discussed putting their name on the front of the arena, they considered what it could mean in terms of expressing a long-term commitment to the community “sort of like to say, ‘we’re here for the long term.'”
