The Opposition industry critic believes a recent MOU reached with North Atlantic on the lease of the Bull Arm site doesn’t pass the smell test.
Lloyd Parrott told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly that the deal needs to be examined “with a microscope.”
The provincial government last week announced that the non-binding MOU was reached following a “fair and transparent request for proposals” to develop a Green Energy Centre of Excellence at the Bull Arm site.
But Parrott is uneasy about the transparency involved in the process involving one of the province’s prime pieces of infrastructure.
He says he doesn’t like how the deal is being “pushed through prior to an election…based on the people at the helm and the lack of transparency. And there’s no proof that this is, forget about it being the best deal, we don’t know if it’s a good deal, we don’t know what the deal is.”
