A 21-year-old man is facing arson charges related to a fire that destroyed a home in Chapel’s Cove on the weekend.
RCMP were called about a house fire on Chapel’s Cove Road just before midnight Sunday. The home and a vehicle were engulfed in flame when first responders arrived.
The owner was not home at the time and the remains of a livestock animal were located by investigators at the scene.
RCMP arrested Declan Mark Unsworth of Brigus Junction on Wednesday and charged him with two counts of arson, two counts of uttering threats and one count of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
Unsworth was held in custody pending a court appearance.
