The annual Government House Garden Party was a smashing success yesterday, due in large part to the near perfect weather.
Hundreds roamed the regal grounds in their Garden Party best, to the traditional sounds of the CLB, Regiment and cadet bands, as well as displays of culture from around the world.
The event, which also included a 60th anniversary celebration of the Canadian flag, was held a little earlier this year due to the upcoming Canada Summer Games.
Nonetheless, Lieutenant Governor Joan Marie Aylward says the privilege to host remains the same.
“Well, as I say, we’re just passing through and we’re very honoured for that,” she said. “But it is quite an honour, and we love it.”
