The mayor of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove is urging visitors to the beach at Middle Cove to be aware of natural hazards.
Mayor Denis Hickey is repeating the caution after the fire department and ambulance were called to the beach yesterday after two people where hit by falling rocks.
Hickey says he doesn’t know all the circumstances, but is cautioning that people visiting the area should be aware of the hazards posed by waves, and rocks in the area.
“We say to people, go down, enjoy the beach, but be very aware that the waves sometimes there can be very dangerous.” He says the steep cliff in the area could also present issues with rocks falling. He’s urging people to be cognizant of their surroundings, especially if they have small children.
