Metrobus is expanding its service in the region, but one mayor says the service needs to go even further.
The transit authority is making routes 30 and 22 an all-day service to both Mount Pearl and Paradise starting this fall.
Mount Pearl Mayor Dave Aker says he’s hearing from businesses throughout the municipality, who need more routes to help with employees and customers alike.
Aker says he was hoping to expand the service beyond its Mount Pearl-Village Shopping Centre run, but says Metrobus doesn’t have the available wheels to get people there.
“What we’re finding now is some of our business owners are looking to bring workers in. They may not live in Mount Pearl; they may be coming from all over.” Aker told VOCM News. “We’ve talked to Metrobus, we have a name on a bus. The challenge for them is getting the equipment, as well as the drivers.”
