NLHS opened its new ambulatory care hub to the public over the weekend to get a sneak peek ahead of its grand opening this week.
The site, at the former Costco building in the east end, will have a number of services open this week, with others like the pain clinic, pre-admission for surgeries and blood collection opening in December.
The urgent care clinic is also set to open later this year – but NLHS did not provide a timeline.
Kim Pike of NLHS says a number of services will be moving to the building.
“All of the services have moved from either the Health Sciences or St. Clare’s and so there’s a bit of coming together of two sites because previously we’ve had medicine and surgery clinics at both St. Clare’s and the Health Science,” she said during a media tour Sunday. Other departments, such as the audiology team at the Janeway, will also be moving to the hub.
Leasing the facility comes at a cost of $5.1-million per year.
