Baseball fever has captivated the entire country as the World Series matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and L.A. Dodgers returns to the Rogers Centre for what could be the deciding game tonight.
The Blue Jays are just one win away from their first World Series title since 1993.
Whether you’re a long-time fan, or have recently jumped on the bandwagon, sports in general and cheering on a team like the Blue Jays does have known psychological benefits according to registered psychologist Dr. Zarina Gianonne.
“To make it to the top, or to be competitive, we’re pushing our limits, and I think that’s a really wonderful quality about sport that tends to enhance mood…it tends to reduce loneliness, like there’s a whole laundry list of benefits,” says Gianonne. “I would just encourage Canadians to find a way to connect to sport in the capacity that’s available to you.”
First pitch tonight is 9:30 Newfoundland time.
