Emergency responders representing a range of services turned out at Canadian Blood Services in St. John’s today for the Sirens for Life blood donor campaign.
Members of the RNC, RCMP, St. John’s Regional Fire Department, paramedics, and search and rescue volunteers rolled up their sleeves in a friendly competition to see who can give the most by the end of the day.
RNC Chief Pat Roche says his members see the need on the frontlines every day, and is encouraging his officers and the public to give the gift of life.
“We are part of the community and the community involves all of our partners the fire department, the other police agencies, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, ourselves, other frontline responders, paramedics.”
“We see far too often the need for blood donors and the need for a blood drive like this because of the motor vehicle accidents we attend and other tragedies that we see far too often in our communities.”
