Toronto Blue Jays bench coach Don Mattingly is leaving the organization.
The New York Post broke the news this morning.
Mattingly played with the New York Yankees from 1982 until he retired as a player in 1995.
He moved on to coaching, first with the Yankees and then with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He also served as manager of the Dodgers and the Miami Marlins.
He joined the Blue Jays organization in 2023.
Throughout Mattingly’s more than 40 years in baseball, a World Series remained elusive, making the Blue Jay’s recent loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers all the more heart-breaking.
Mattingly has indicated that he does not intend to retire from baseball however.
He has been nominated for the Baseball Hall of Fame along with former Blue Jays Carlos Delgado, Jeff Kent, and Roger Clemens.
